You know my opinion. I want McCain to win, but he hasn't really convinced me that he wants it. I don't think he has convinced the American people either. Here are a few reasons why McCain deserves to lose the election.
1. He has been inconsistent on his main message. Not that he has said a bunch of contradictory things, but he has failed at developing and communicating a consistent message to the people of the United States (as my good friend Chuck Flurry pointed out to me earlier today).
2. He has been unable to clearly articulate his plan to the American people. It is a good plan, a workable plan, an affordable plan, but he just can't sell it to the people.
3. His campaign has been a disaster, and he hasn't done anything about it. Look at Obama's campaign, could they have done a better job? If it were possible I don't know how.
4. He has failed to reach the people that could have elected him, the middle class. This is the bread and butter of the Republican party, and he has conceded many of them to Obama.
5. I believe that things ought to be done in an excellent way, McCain has not met the level of excellence that I and most Americans expect.
6. He says the same lines over and over in the exact same way. It's ok to say the same thing over and over, but saying it the same way comes across as canned and disingenuous.
7. He hasn't defended himself as being different from Bush, nor the Republicans from getting ALL of the blame for the economic crisis. These two issues are the main reasons he is probably going to lose.
8. He hasn't communicated his compassion. Obama has done a great job at communicating his compassion for people, McCain has failed at this.
It's times like this that make me wish even more that Mike Huckabee would have won the nomination.

Why McCain Deserves to Lose

I do like Huckabee. So there. We agree on something.
I saw him once eating cake in the fellowship hall with David Watkins.
Thinking back on that was weird. And kind of neat.
so, he's a big fat loser...we agree!
obama is a good man. you cannot contest that. i am glad to be able to vote for a decent human being.
So are you saying that McCain isn't decent or that he's not a human being?- Just kidding.
I wouldn't say we agree that McCain is a big fat loser, but he has run a very poor campaign. Would you agree that a good man can run a poor campaign, lose, and still be the better choice of the two candidates for the country? That's all I'm saying about McCain.
As far as I know, Obama's a good guy. I hate the company he keeps (Ayers, Wright, Khaliti (sp?), New Party, etc.), which makes me question his judgment. Being a likable, decent human being doesn't necessarily qualify you to be President. There is still the problem of the issues.
I would write a post on why Obama SHOULD lose, but I already covered most of that in my 10 Things I Hate About You. It is interesting though how a guy with the associations, and personal confessions (in his autobiography, to Joe the plumber, and on the radio interview in 2001) about his desires for wealth redistribution, can still remain in the LEAD in America!! This shows beyond a shadow of a doubt the supremacy of his campaign. He seems to have gotten a complete pass on the campaign finance reform lie. I guess it's just a bad time to be a Republican. The American people hate them so bad that they are willing to elect a semi-socialist into office rather than elect one of our most independent, centrist candidates.
Still, running a successful campaign, does not make you White House material. Running a poor campaign doesn't disqualify you either.
McCain still has a shot, albeit a slim one.
Kristen,
How surprising that Huck was eating cake? (did you catch the sarcasm?) I think he's been eating a little more of that stuff lately.
well, it was a well-run campaign, midget and all...gonna get a paddlin--nope, i believe it's more of a kickin sensation...
you know, Jesus kept the worst of company...
You Dems and your messiah complex with Obama, when will it end?
Referring to comment above- Tongue planted firmly in cheek, with a wink.
Also, had Jesus come in contact with Socialists, they would have certainly been capitalists by the end of the meeting, or at least they would be ashamed of their Socialism. Yes Jesus kept poor company (still does), but He never left them as they were, obviously Obama has not had that effect on his comrades.
If you knew the company I keep you would question my judgment to. (Aside: My judgment is open to questions. I'm just saying this on principle.)
I don't think its right to assume Obama hasn't tried to help or offered to help his family members.
I would also say that sometimes, rarely, Jesus left his company as they were. He seemed to be more concerned with the person than the circumstances of the person.
And - this "Also, had Jesus come in contact with Socialists, they would have certainly been capitalists by the end of the meeting, or at least they would be ashamed of their Socialism." made me throw up in my mouth a little bit. Show me Scripture in its context and I'll let you get away with saying something like that, but if you can't then please give some thought to using the name of God for your own agenda.
Ouch, I know. I'd expect the same correction from you, "my friend". I'm saying "my friend" as on ode to McCain. :)
Kristen
The issue of his company is not, who his company is, but that the circumstances around his relationships with these people seems to indicate he agrees with them. That's the problem, not that he has Socialist friends.
My comment about Jesus was a joke. I know sarcasm and embellishment does not translate into text very well. I did get a rise out of you though!! I would have clarified sooner but I got sidetracked.
I don't know about his half brother in a slum in Africa or his aunt in the projects. I don't pretend to know what he has or hasn't done for them.
