Housing- Attention Wyatt Members, and Out of Town People Coming In For the Funeral

There will be a ton of out of town people coming in, and if you have room to house people please contact Kelly Bishop by email and let her know how much room you have. You may also think about preparing food for the guests as well. I prefer that you email her so that she doesn't have to constantly stop to write things down. Please include your address if possible so we can get directions.
She can be contacted at this email address- waddill@hotmail.com
Her phone number is 870-904-5799. You can call or text.

If you are from out of town call or email her and she will match you up with a family.

Service Planning

I have had the privilege of meeting with Clif and Adam on the service preparation and we sat down with Scott to talk about it. He pulled out Jill's quiet time books and notes. There were three seminary guys back there and her effort and study put us all to shame. Jill's devotional life was exceptional. Her faith was serious, not just an afterthought of her day like it is with me more times than I would care to admit.

We talked about the service and his desires. He wants God to be glorified through the service, because that's what Jill would want. We hope that our efforts at planning will be fruitful and many people will hear about the God whom Jill was so in love with. I can't tell you what a privilege it is to be around such an amazing group of people. It is a testimony to Jill that she would have such incredible people surrounding her.
Sorrrowful, yet always rejoicing...
Jonathan

Humorous Stories

Jenni's comment made me think that it would be a good idea to write humorous stories about Jill and post them here.

Fellowship

We are all here at Scott's house hanging out with him. He is in good spirits and is holding his son. They have made all the arrangements for the funeral and burial. Jill will be buried close to Lauren Hymer at Rest Haven.

The Grace of God Manifest in Donny

For those who may not be aware, our music minister lost his daughter in a car accident a few years ago. I have been amazed at how God has sustained him to be able to give support to Scott during this difficult time. I appreciate Donny so much and am honored to be with him at Wyatt.

The Refuge of Humor

I want to encourage you all to find some moments of sanity in humor. That's what Jill would want us to be doing.

More Information on Jill's Services

The visitation for Jill will be at Young’s Chapel Tuesday, November 4th from 6-8PM. The funeral service will be at Wyatt Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 5th at 2PM.
There will be childcare provided with Immanuel Baptist Church for the visitation. They will provide it at Immanuel.

Westside will be providing Childcare at Wyatt for the funeral Wednesday.

Please email Leigh Ann Bolin at leigh.bolin@sbcglobal.net if you will be needing childcare. Also, if you have any questions, email Leigh Ann or call the church office at (870) 862-2619.

On memorials, please send them to Wyatt Baptist Church and put Jill Attebery in the memo line.

Please Put Your Whole Name at the End of Comments

There are so many comments and names I'm afraid Scott may not know which Susie wrote what. I should have said this much earlier, but please do that from now on.
Thanks,
Jonathan

Jill's Bible

Clif Johnson is going through Jill's Bible right now and it is really amazing. It took him a long time to find a page without any writing on it. This will be a great resource for Scott in the coming days and years. As Clif said it will be an opportunity for Jill to preach to Scott.

Clif and I are at Scott's house waiting for him to come back from the funeral home.

Letters To Bryce: From Lindsey Watson

We know that Bryce will grow up with very loving families that will make sure he knows who is mother was and what kind of foot print she left on this earth. However, we wanted Jill's friends to also be able to share their memories of Jill with Bryce, so he can get a good idea of what she meant to everyone - family, friends, co-workers, etc....

We have set up an e-mail address for people to send letters to. After the deadline we will compile these letters into a book for Bryce to have. So, here are the instructions:

Please write a letter TO BRYCE telling about what Jill meant to you and how she influenced your life. Yes, Scott will probably read these to him when he is little, but we want him to have this book forever. Please be detailed and share any fun memories of her that are SPECIFIC to your relationship with her. E-mail them to letterstobryce@gmail.com. If you would like to include any pictures you might have of Jill, please do that as well. You can also include any newspaper articles or other scrapbook type items. If you need to mail anything, you can mail it to Lindsey Watson, 2404 Broadview Ave, Conway, AR 72034. Please note "letters to bryce" on the outside of the envelope. PLEASE DO THIS BY JANUARY 1ST, 2009. Cari Calhoun and I will compile all of these letters and pictures into a book.

Please note - Scripture and poetry are great and we want that, but please include a letter of at least one thing about Jill and/or your relationship to her. Thank you so very much!
Lindsey Watson

At the Funeral Home

Scott, and his parents and Donny are at the funeral home making plans for the service right now.
Please be in prayer for him specifically during this difficult step.

529 Plan For Bryce

If you would like to contribute to Bryce's 529 plan here is the information on sending a check to The Gift Plan where his account is set up.

For those in Arkansas you can receive an Arkansas State Income Tax Deduction for contributions up to $5000 per individual ($10000 per married couple) per year. There were other questions as well about 529 plans. The money will be under the control of Scott always. He will have withdrawal rights. Money pulled out and not used for college would be taxable. If Bryce doesn't want to go to college the beneficiary can be changed to someone else in the family.

I have done extensive research on these accounts and they are the best one that I know of especially for Arkansas residents.

Just print this portion below and fill in the amount and send it to the address indicated.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Thanks,

One Way For Someone to Serve

If someone could go through this blog and compile the posts and comments into an editable document so that we can make it into a book for Scott I would appreciate it. I know there are some who cannot be here, and this is one way you can serve.

There will be many more ways to serve in the coming days, and I will post them here.

If you are good at this sort of thing please email me at jonathandbaird@gmail.com and let me know how you plan to do it. I think a word document would suffice. It needs to be editable because people are adding to the comments all the time.

Thanks,

Jonathan

Poem of Comfort

By Martha Snell Nicolson
I stood a mendicant of God before His royal throne
And begged him for one priceless gift, which I could call my own.
I took the gift from out His hand, but as I would depart
I cried, "But Lord this is a thorn and it has pierced my heart.
This is a strange, a hurtful gift, which Thou hast given me."
He said, "My child, I give good gifts and gave My best to thee."
I took it home and though at first the cruel thorn hurt sore,
As long years passed I learned at last to love it more and more.
I learned He never gives a thorn without this added grace,
He takes the thorn to pin aside the veil which hides His face.

Hymns of Comfort

These hymns written hundreds of years ago have always been helpful to me in times of sorrow.

God Moves in a Mysterious Way

God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform;
He plants His footsteps in the sea
And rides upon the storm.
Deep in unfathomable mines
Of never failing skill
He treasures up His bright designs
And works His sovereign will.

Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy and shall break
In blessings on your head.

Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust Him for His grace;
Behind a frowning providence
He hides a smiling face.

His purposes will ripen fast,
Unfolding every hour;
The bud may have a bitter taste,
But sweet will be the flower.

Blind unbelief is sure to err
And scan His work in vain;
God is His own interpreter,
And He will make it plain.

A mighty fortress is our God

A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great, and, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.

Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God’s own choosing:
Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth, His Name, from age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.

And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us:
The Prince of Darkness grim, we tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure, for lo, his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.

That word above all earthly powers, no thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours through Him Who with us sideth:
Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also;
The body they may kill: God’s truth abideth still,
His kingdom is forever.

Abide with me

Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

Swift to its close ebbs out life’s little day;
Earth’s joys grow dim; its glories pass away;
Change and decay in all around I see;
O Thou who changest not, abide with me.

Not a brief glance I beg, a passing word;
But as Thou dwell’st with Thy disciples, Lord,
Familiar, condescending, patient, free.
Come not to sojourn, but abide with me.

Come not in terrors, as the King of kings,
But kind and good, with healing in Thy wings,
Tears for all woes, a heart for every plea—
Come, Friend of sinners, and thus bide with me.

Thou on my head in early youth didst smile;
And, though rebellious and perverse meanwhile,
Thou hast not left me, oft as I left Thee,
On to the close, O Lord, abide with me.

I need Thy presence every passing hour.
What but Thy grace can foil the tempter’s power?
Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.

I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless;
Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
Where is death’s sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.

Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes;
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
Heaven’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee;
In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.

Our God, our help in ages past

Our God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home.

Under the shadow of Thy throne
Thy saints have dwelt secure;
Sufficient is Thine arm alone,
And our defense is sure.

Before the hills in order stood,
Or earth received her frame,
From everlasting Thou art God,
To endless years the same.

Thy Word commands our flesh to dust,
“Return, ye sons of men:”
All nations rose from earth at first,
And turn to earth again.

A thousand ages in Thy sight
Are like an evening gone;
Short as the watch that ends the night
Before the rising sun.

The busy tribes of flesh and blood,
With all their lives and cares,
Are carried downwards by the flood,
And lost in following years.

Time, like an ever rolling stream,
Bears all its sons away;
They fly, forgotten, as a dream
Dies at the opening day.

Like flowery fields the nations stand
Pleased with the morning light;
The flowers beneath the mower’s hand
Lie withering ere ‘tis night.

Our God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Be Thou our guard while troubles last,
And our eternal home.

Be still, my soul

Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side.
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain.
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In every change, He faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul: thy best, thy heavenly Friend
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.
Be still, my soul: thy God doth undertake
To guide the future, as He has the past.
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul: the waves and winds still know
His voice Who ruled them while He dwelt below.
Be still, my soul: when dearest friends depart,
And all is darkened in the vale of tears,
Then shalt thou better know His love, His heart,
Who comes to soothe thy sorrow and thy fears.
Be still, my soul: thy Jesus can repay
From His own fullness all He takes away.
Be still, my soul: the hour is hastening on
When we shall be forever with the Lord.
When disappointment, grief and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul: when change and tears are past
All safe and blessèd we shall meet at last.
Be still, my soul: begin the song of praise
On earth, believing, to Thy Lord on high;
Acknowledge Him in all thy words and ways,
So shall He view thee with a well pleased eye.
Be still, my soul: the Sun of life divine
Through passing clouds shall but more brightly shine.

May these hymns comfort your soul, as they have mine in times past and now.
